Details: On 9/28/20 BET announced that legal thriller Sacrifice starring Paula Patton has been picked up to series. The movie launched on BET+ in December 2019 and was the first original film on the streaming service. Sacrifice takes place in Los Angeles following Daniella Hernandez, a highly sought-after entertainment lawyer, as she navigates the nefarious lives of her rich and famous clients. Patton will resume her role in the 10-episode series, accompanied by returning cast members Marques Houston, James Trevena Brown, Veronika Bozeman, Altonio Jackson, Liliana Montenegro, Michael Toland, and Nelson Bonilla.
The series will delve deeper into Daniella’s complicated personal life. She is a recovering alcoholic who compensates for her suppressed addiction with men and the adrenaline of defending the worst in the entertainment world against an over-zealous D.A. sworn to bring them all to justice. Daniella’s unimpeachable clients need her help, wisdom and resourcefulness – as do all the corrupt ones. She is the classic conundrum of doing good for bad reasons and doing bad for good reasons. Story: Tyler Perry is teaming up with Netflix for a new thriller about a woman whose world is shattered by secrets. On 11/22/19, the writer-director-producer announced on Twitter, that his upcoming film, A Fall from Grace will begin streaming on the platform on Jan. 17. Netflix’s Strong Black Lead account also shared the news in a tweet saying the drama will be centered around a divorced woman who feels restored by a new romance, secrets soon start to erode her short-lived joy. Story: Stolen by My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story, is the first movie greenlit by Lifetime under the Robin Roberts Presents movie and documentary banner, from Rock’n Robin and Lincoln Square Productions. The film portrays the true story of a young woman who discovers at age 18, she was abducted as a baby and the family she knew to be hers, wasn’t hers at all. The film will be followed by a companion documentary featuring the real-life people depicted in the movie.
In the summer of 1998, Gloria Williams (Nash), reeling from a recent miscarriage, drove from her home in South Carolina and walked into a Jacksonville, Florida hospital posing as a nurse and took newborn Kamiyah Mobley (Ferrell) out of her mother Shanara Mobley’s (Jones) arms. By the time police were alerted, Gloria was long gone. Renaming the baby Alexis, Gloria raised her as her own, providing her with unconditional love and nurturing. It wasn’t until years later, when Alexis applied for her first job and couldn’t provide a social security card or a birth certificate, that she realized something was wrong. After confronting Gloria, Alexis learned the truth, that she was really Kamiyah Mobley and abducted as a baby.
